Homework/Class Business:
  • Read 30 minutes EVERY night
  • Fill out Reading Log- If your child is going to be leaving before the Christmas break starts, they NEED to turn their Reading Log in early. I know most of the kids will forget theirs if I have them bring it after Christmas break.
  • Natural Disaster project- see email that went home Monday. Each student has their assigned natural disaster. This project is due: Friday, December 16th. You have only 2 days to complete this now.
  • I am still in need of tissues and white printer paper. Extra credit or a treat to any student who brings either of these in. Expo white board markers would be appreciated too.
  • Parents, PLEASE let me know if your child is going to be leaving out of town before Christmas break starts.
  • Our class Christmas party will be held on Wednesday, December 21st (the last day of school before break). We will be doing fun things all day, but the party will be from 11:30 until the end of school (12:30).

**Parents, we have had a lot of talking and disruption going on in class the last 2 days. There are only a handful of students who are causing the problems, but I would greatly appreciate it if all the parents took a moment to discuss with their child what the word "respect" means. I really want to do fun things in class but am unable to do too many things because of the several disruptions during the day. I know the students are very excited to see their friends each day but I would love it if each student could talk out a little less. Thank you so much, and like always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.**

ATTENTION to all of those who want to help!

I will be sending an email around as well as posting on the blog, but if you're interested in helping in the classroom, I would LOVE help. I am looking for volunteers Tuesday through Friday from 10:00-10:45 am. During this time the students are working on their centers packets (literacy/Treasures) and I will be pulling small groups of students back to read with me. The students working on their centers packets ALWAYS have questions and it would be extremely helpful if there were volunteers to go around rather than the students interrupt me (reading with groups of students). Volunteers will also sign off on the students packets and ensure that they have completed them. Once I get into the groove of things (probably a couple weeks) I would really appreciate it if parents would be willing to help with grading. I promise the grading will not be too difficult and not too time consuming. Lastly, if there is somebody who is willing to be a room mother that would be great. The room mother would take care of holiday parties, helping in the classroom (maybe setting a schedule for helpers/homework graders?), etc. You may email me or reply to this blog post if you're interested in any of these things. Thank you so much!
